Can we look at the conditions of this nation and know that the darkness is growing greater. Many Christians are falling away, and the bible speaks about this. 2 Thess 2:3 – Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition. In Matthew 24:12 it also tells us that, “because iniquity abounds the love of most will wax cold. The Greek word for love in this verse is “agape”. Agape love doesn’t exist in non-believers it is a gift of God upon being born again of the Spirit. Agape graces us as we are compelled by the Spirit to walk in it, bringing transformation of the soul.
All this seems overwhelming, but God has not lost control or forsaken His people. His Spirit is raising up a remnant as He always has throughout the history of His people, both Jews and gentiles. Rom 11:5 – Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. This election by grace is established in those who continue in first love to suffer their own death to self will that Jesus Christ would rule and manifest Him self out of believers to build His kingdom on earth. 2 Cor 4:10-12 – Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11) For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12) So then death works in us, but life in you.
Darkness prevails, because of the darkness in hearts of His own people who profess Jesus Christ, without the love of God in their hearts. The love of God compels believers to love mercy, do justly and walk humbly before man and God.(Micah 6:8) In this alone is God glorified through us. 1 Cor 13:1-3 – Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2) And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3) And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. The Spirit of God is given to constrain us to walk in the love of God. (2Cor 5:14) Constrain means to be held in a strait betwixt two. The love of God constrained me and my wife to go into the inner city to start a ministry to the poor and needy. It wasn’t my idea or hers, it was His and His love made us go against our own will. Literally my flesh fought against the spirit. I loved Jesus more than my own life and I reluctantly surrendered to His will. Unknown to us it was the calling for our lives and we love it, even with all the hardships. We know His spirit is preparing us for eternal life.
THIS IS GODS LOVE: Isa 61:1-2 – The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2) To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn. This is what mercy and justice is all about. Setting those captives under the oppression of the devil in the darkness into the freedom of our Lord. Acts 10:38 – How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Jesus Christ, His disciples and Paul understood this and the Churches they established lived this out as a way of life to build our Lords church on earth. What happen? The same God that was with Jesus and the disciples is with us today. This is not the pattern in His church today! Do we not understand that if we don’t exercise the power and authority that God gave us through Jesus Christ to exercise the mercy and justice of God in our own community, this very same oppression will end up on our own door steps, as it surely is in these time.
Because of this neglect, brought on by, what I believe is well meaning teachers, that are deceived of the devil, comes a popular teaching that it is Gods will that His people be under this oppression of sickness, disease and every other form of malady known to mankind, yet the scriptures clearly declare that, whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Luke 18:3-8 – And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4) And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5) Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6) And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7) And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8) I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Galatians 5:6 tells us that faith works through love (agape). Works is the Greek word “energeo” which means active and efficient, plus it is the origin of the English word energy. It is this energy and power that matures us and overcomes the devil. Our adversary is the devil, not flesh and blood. It is the working of demonic forces of darkness that God actually uses to sharpen us as a sword in His hand against every work of the devil. Isa 54:16 – Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. Our victory and even the putting off our own flesh and unbelief is in standing and preserving in the battle. We must not give in to the distractions of this life that are intended by the devil to weaken the enduring faith of Christ that indwells us. We must endure hardship and the God of peace will soon crush the devil under out feet.(Romans 16:20)
