Matt 24:10-12 – And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11) And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12) And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. The Greek word for offended means (scandalize), to entrap, trip up, stumble, or entice to sin, and apostasy. Remember that in Matthew 24 Jesus was answering his disciples about the signs of the end. 2 Thess 2:3 – Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. In ths scripture the Greek word for falling away is “apostasia”, meaning a defection from truth, or to forsake and the word apostasy comes from this Greek word. Matt 24:13 – But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
1 John 4:16 – And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Both times love is used, the Greek word “agape” is used and defined, as love feast, benevolence, and affection that requires no inward reason to warrant that affection. The KJV uses the word charity 28 time of the 116 times “agape” is used. Charity really does a better job at defining the love of God by the charitable giving of our lives one to another. Sadly in these days the love of God, “agape” is being hijacked in the American church and producing corruption in believers hearts. The love of God can’t be reduplicated from the flesh. It can only be reduplicated by grace and truth, opening the door for the Spirit of God to mortify the deeds of the flesh.(Rom 8:13)
We live in a nation that grows more and more corrupt and it is having a high impact on a very anaemic church. There is open rejection of what were strongly held biblical truths regarding abortion, gay marriage, fornication, the even the virgin birth, the existence of a real devil and hell and much more. Many religious leaders are using the love of God as a weapon in the devil’s hand to preach an unconditional grace as a means to pander to the unlearned who desire a god that will love and accept them full of sin without any requirement for spiritual change. 2 Tim 4:3-4 – For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (fiction).
Love that is not love is love that does not practice the one another gospel. John 13:34-35 – A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35) By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. One another is the Greek word (al-lay’-lone) and the Strong’s Concordance defines it as reduplication of one another. It is the active principle of Gods love “through the Holy Spirit” vigorously reduplicating the nature and character of Jesus Christ within in every member. (In meekness and humility!! )(Rom 5:1-5) ) Christians that don’t participate in this will perish and their faith is a sham!! Another word used in the Thayers and Vines dictionaries for “one another” is the word reciprocal. Reciprocal means mutual; done by each to the other; as reciprocal love; reciprocal benefits or favors; reciprocal duties; reciprocal aid. Both reduplication and reciprocity builds the Church up together in love, at the same time the Spirit is mortifying the deeds of our flesh. The love of God is compelling us into good works against our will bringing the old nature to its end, thus putting on immortality and incorruptibility. Death is working in each while the life of Christ is being released to whom the Spirit of God desires to touch. (2 Cor 4:10-12) Jesus said, He didn’t come to be served, but to serve and be a ransom for many. (Mk 10:45) Each member of His church has the same calling of laying down our lives for our friends, neighbor and stranger for the benefit of building up the body of Christ. Rom 13:8 – Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. The love of God is a debt that every Christian should be giving back to one another. The continuous strife, envy and jealousy in the church creates corruption and death. Another word used for “agape” is the action verb “agapao” which is simply agape in action, vigorously working within each member to lay down their lives for one another through the compelling power of His love, building the body of Christ. (2 Cor 5:14-16) Heb 10:5 – Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me.
The corruption that is in the world has entered the church and it gets worse and worse after every generation. Zech 13:7-9 – “Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, Against the Man who is My Companion,” Says the Lord of hosts. “Strike the that the sheep may be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones. And it shall come to pass in all the land,” Says the Lord, “That two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die, But one-third shall be left in it: 9) I will bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.” The true Shepherd in the hearts of the leadership in the church today is vanishing just as it did some twenty to thirty years into Paul’s ministry and the sheep are being devoured and being scattered. Acts 20:28-30 – Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29) For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30) Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Phil 2:20-21 – For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. 21) For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. Only Timothy was like minded out of all the disciples Paul had raised up into leadership. 2 Tim 1:15 – This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. If this was happening almost two thousand years ago and the conditions of God’s people have been growing worse and worse over the past fifty generations, it would behoove us to find leadership and fellowship with the heart of the Shepherd and grow in Christ in these very perilous times.(2 Tim 3:12-14) (2 Tim 3:1-5)
